The main focus of this year’s Community Day organized in Pokémon Go is the Spheal, the water-type Pokémon. The game hosted two giant events on Community Day on January 16. The month will be completely dedicated to the Pokémon of ice/water type that was introduced in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire for the first time.

Spheal is the first stage in evolution and until it turns into Walrein it has a long road in front. The event brought all the competitive spirit, since it introduced the Icicle Spear, the new move for Walrein. It helped the bulky Pokémon to become a dangerous rival in the GO Battle League.

The new move now is available for every Sealeo, the 2nd stage of evolution for Spheal. Once the creature turns into Walrein, it receives Icicle Spear in another move set called Powder Snow. The Spear takes 35% of energy and does the damage of 60. Players already cheer up their ability to take the low amount of energy that may be crucial in the battle. This Pokémon becomes the major competitor in the Great League. It is cheaper than Lapras and is definitely a leader among similar ice species. While it has low CP, it does not stop players from raising Spheal.

Community Day brought other bonuses to the players. It offered Catch XP triple bonus with leveling up possibility. The Shiny form was boosted for Spheal too. Players could enjoy the sparkling skin of creatures that made it even cuter. This is the first time the Shiny version was introduced to the public.

During the event, players were able to buy a Community Day Box with 50 Ultra Balls, 5 Lucky Eggs, 5 Super Incubators, and Elite Fast TM inside. It all was offered for 1,280 PokeCoins. The bundle with 30 Ultra Balls was available for free that day.
