Finally, the new generation of Pokémon games is arriving. After Sword and Shield, one of the most controversial games in the series, we are about to receive the new pair of games, named Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violett. The trailer is already here, and while little is known for sure, there are still some conclusions to make from it.

The new map, as we see from the trailer, is loosely based on real-world Spain. This country comes to mind when you see the biome and the architecture of the region shown in the video. There are even direct references to Spanish and Portugal locations spotted by the most attentive eyes, including orange plantations, squares, palaces, and fountains. So do hint at the names of the starter Pokémon in the game: Sprigatito (which resembles the Spanish for “grass cat”, Fuecoco (“fire crocodile”), and Quaxly – a duckling Pokémon whose name is an obvious onomatopoeia.

Both the games are set somewhere in the present. While the first part of the trailer just hints there’s Pikachu somewhere around, later the video reveals all the rich Pokémon population the games feature. As for the region details, nothing is officially confirmed, including the name, so we should wait for further trailers or gameplay videos.

As for the gameplay, these are – again – open-world RPG. Obviously, the reception of Pokémon Legends: Arceus inspired Nintendo to explore this genre further. There are never enough open-world games, especially when it comes to Pokémon. So we welcome this decision. The games are set to be released later in 2022 for Nintendo Switch, but the date hasn’t been announced.

Are you already curious about what these Pokémon games bring? And do you agree with Nintendo that Pokémon games are still to be released in pairs? You can speak your mind in the comments if you please!
