It seems that soon WhatsApp for Android will be updated with the Disappearing Mode. The new feature will be available as part of the privacy settings in the app. While WhatsApp already has Disappearing Messages, this addition will act as an extension.

According to the report from WABetaInfo, which is a WhatsApp beta tracker, this new privacy feature will be rolled out to the beta testers of this app. At the moment, no one has managed to test the new option, as it is still under development.

When it comes to the source of this information, Will Cathcart from WhatsApp and Mark Zuckerberg have allegedly revealed the details. They shared their plans to introduce the new mode right in the WABetaInfo chat. The reports suggest that when you enable the Disappearing Mode on your device, other people you talk to will get a notification.

What is more, WhatsApp will not only add a new mode but also improve the Disappearing Messages feature, which is already present in the app. At the moment, the messages disappear 7 days after they have been sent. Now, the developers work on introducing more variety so that users can choose if they want messages to disappear after 7 days, 24 hours, or 90 days.

It is likely that the Disappearing Mode will also appear on iPhones, but there haven’t been any statements about this yet. This new mode is not the only feature that will be introduced to WhatsApp. Based on the information provided by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp team also works on redesigning the group and contact card on Android. Just like the Disappearing Mode, the redesign hasn’t been available for beta testers yet.
